From small towns to cosmopolitan cities – catch a glimpse of a unique perspective of our world – when children use cameras to document their neighborhoods. The children learn basic photography, go on “walkabout” field trips, and an exhibit of their work is hosted locally, regionally, and sometimes nationally.
Musically gifted students are invited to perform at opening receptions.
The Through Children’s Eyes Inc. nonprofit program is designed to teach elementary-school age children visual awareness and communication skills, helping the children learn about themselves as a positive part of their own community, bringing together families, businesses and community, with an opportunity to embrace their culture and community, sharing visual essays with their family and friends, and indeed the world.
Since its’ founding in1982 , many programs have been conducted through local schools and youth organizations in the USA, and with others conducted in Armenia, Ukraine, and Indonesia, in cooperation with organizations such as Sister Cities and international corporate sponsors.
A cross-section of the children’s photography and writings are exhibited in their community and often beyond, from local schools and libraries to City Hall, the Children’s Museum, and to having their work displayed as a part of larger event locations, including a United Nations Youth Forum, and at Embassies in Washington DC and Los Angeles.
